About MaGiCo!
MaGiCo! is a partnership of MARE (Marine, Coastal and Delta Sustainability for Southeast Asia) and Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM). Erasmus+ MARE sectoral collaborative platform for Malaysian is championed by Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). This is conducted through the collaboration with the Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM), under the working group -Coastal and Marine Geology Technical Committee.
A commitment letter between IGM and MARE-UTP has been signed on 20th November 2022 to show the interest and commitment in working together for sectoral collaborative platform.

Although the commitment letter was signed in late 2022, the activities among IGM and MARE have begun since 2021. In 2021, Mr. Mohamad Shaufi Sokiman from UTP-MARE has introduced and briefed IGM about MARE. Mr. Mohamad Shaufi was also the committee member in Coastal and Marine Geology working group for Year 2021-2022.

Both IGM and MARE agrees to work on the following objectives to ensure the success of this collaborative platform.
1. To develop shared MARE open education environment platform & online training services of the new generation for qualitative improvement of the education process & academic workflow support among universities & stakeholders across the PCs & EU.
2. To create sustainable feedback mechanisms to end-users, ensuring adaptive & practice-relevant teaching contents, knowledge co-production opportunities and stakeholder support to post-project course development & teaching.
3. In addition to quality curriculum contents; it also creates innovative ICT-based management system for teaching, learning & research training, and builds institutional mechanisms to engage stakeholders with research & education to improve the relevance of educational provision to the society.

In 2020-2021, the collaboration between MARE and IGM was led by Mr. Mohamad Shaufi Sokiman (MARE) and Mr. Abdullah Sulaiman, who was the Head of Technical Committee on Coastal & Marine Geology in IGM. Several activities were conducted under their leadership in this sectoral collaborative platform.

In 2022-2023, IGM had appointed Mr. Abdullah Sulaiman as the Vice President for IGM and his position as the Head of Technical Committee on Coastal and Marine Geology has been replaced by Dr. Nor Bakhiah Baharim. At the same time, the role for sectoral collaborative platform (SCP) for MARE has been passed to Dr. Siti Nur Fathiyah Jamaludin (UTP).
